90s-reflecting the era’s innovative spirit.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Located in the chaotic heart of the Japanese capital’s Ginza district, Renzo Piano’s monumental tower of “grand gesture technology” is inspired by the architect’s traditional Japanese lanterns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although Herm\u00e8s Ginza was completed in the early 2000s, the planning and design process began in the late 90s, reflecting the innovative spirit of the era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The most visible feature of the building is its facade – made entirely of glass blocks.<\/p>\n\n\n

More than 13,000 specially designed glass blocks were used, and its facade filters natural light, creates a calm interior and reflects complete privacy from the noisy streets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The building is built on a strategically placed steel structure that not only supports the weight of the glass blocks, but also ensures the building’s resilience against Tokyo’s seismic activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The vertical form of the building is part of traditional Japanese architecture, and the use of light is a reference to Herm\u00e8s’ commitment to transparency and quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
